DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
A 12-year-old Vietnamese boy, obsessed with Jackie Chan movies, dreams of learning karate while navigating a strict father's expectations. This is the logline, but it was also exactly my experience growing up and the reason why I became a stuntman later on in life!
This is my personal story growing up. One day, I DID make that jump. My very first stunt jump. It was a literal and figurative leap of faith.
And somehow, I ended up in America working as a union stunt professional. I ended up getting to work in the film industry. I ended up doing all the things society told me I could not when I was a child.
So, this movie is a self-reflection/exploration of what makes me who I am today, an answer to everyone who believed in, and did NOT believe in me, as I was growing up, a tribute to my late grandmother, who loved watching movies with me, a snapshot of a very special time & place: early 90s in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, a place of constant change and growth
